Through fundraising and raising awareness Hand in Hand UK supports the Hand in Hand community in Nkoranza, Ghana. The UK charity directors are Naomi Owereh and Danielle Trigg. Both Naomi and Danielle feel passionately that the excellent work being done at the Hand in Hand community must be supported to continue. All the children have had difficult, sometimes truly horrific, starts to their lives. Hand in Hand gives all members of its community acceptance, a sense of family and real learning and employment opportunities. Most importantly it provides the kind of love and stability that every child deserves.

Dominic Trigg:
Dominic, Danielle’s younger brother, has been a huge inspiration behind the setting up Hand in Hand UK. Diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy and himself a wheelchair user for the last ten years of his life, Dominic had to confront issues of physical disability in this country on a daily basis. Dominic’s experiences showed that while attitudes towards disability in the UK are thankfully very different to the majority of those in Ghana, we don’t always get it right. He increased Danielle’s determination to tackle matters surrounding disability, even on a global scale! When she first went to the Hand in Hand community it was in Dominic’s memory that she returned determined to help continue the essential work being done there. Because there they do get it right. Dominic’s life motivates and inspires all of our fundraising. He was a truly exceptional young man who is still very much missed.
